How is a salaried man to bless a corporation to grow and raise his personal worth? And, how can a business operator keep his business to stay firm as a rock amidst the winds and waves and contribute to society as he seeks the welfare of his staff?

Welcome to the programme series “Musings of the Workplace” hosted by Dr Michelle Liew and hear her share how to handle difficult situations at workplace.

Dr Michelle Liew graduated with a PhD in Chemical Engineering, from the University of New South Wales, Australia. She is currently the general manager of 3C Co. Ltd and the Executive Chairman of GLOBAL REACHOUT.

Dr Liew had been living and working in 6 different countries across 3 continents. She had been the Environmental Senior Manager in Asia Pacific region in the steelmaking, synthetic fibre and resin industries. Her portfolio covered environmental technology R&D industrialization as well as management system establishment and supervision of these multinational corporations (MNCs) in the Asia Pacific Region. She was credited with the total revamp of the steelmaking plant and received the ISO14001 certification for Environmental Management System for the company within 12 months from the word go. Playing a role to help the corporation upgrade its management efficiency, she turned her professional training to her advantage to achieve higher management efficiencies and build up a team by way of management philosophy based on personal convictions.

Today, Dr Liew will kick off her sharing on the importance of spiritual attributes in developing corporate entities by starting with the topic of “Corporate Culture”.

Before I close the session, let us think about the questions below:

1.   What type of values and cultures are upheld at your current workplace? In what ways are these similar to and/or different from what Dr Liew has just brought up?

2.   What cultural transformations do your company need, in order to further develop it into an evergreen entity?

3.   What concrete measures must be taken to help your company upgrade its culture?

I look forward to your sharing. May we sharpen one another and achieve excellence at the workplace.
